The jelly jar test
Both services clear a clogged drain. Only one of them actually cleans the pipe. Here’s the easiest way to think about the difference.
Drain Clearing (Snaking)
Like pushing a knife through a jar of jelly. A cable pokes a hole through the clog and restores flow right away, but the buildup on the pipe walls stays put and keeps growing.
- Fast, affordable, same-day
- Great for a first-time clog
- Grease and debris stay on the walls, so the clog can come back
$179*
Current special. Regular price starts at $450.
Drain Cleaning (Hydro Jetting)
Like pressure-washing the inside of that same jar. High-pressure water scours the full length of the pipe, removing years of buildup instead of just punching through it.
- Removes grease, soap, and debris from the walls
- Stops clogs from coming back
- Includes a video inspection to confirm the line is clear
$625*
Current special. Regular price starts at $925.
*Special pricing for standard residential drains, while it lasts. Regular starting prices are $450 for clearing and $925 for cleaning. Additional charges may apply for main lines, difficult access, or after-hours scheduling. We confirm your exact price before any work begins.
Which one do you need?
A few quick questions usually settle it:
- Is this the first time this drain has clogged? If yes, clearing is probably enough.
- Has this drain been snaked in the past year? If it’s clogging again, the buildup that snaking leaves behind is likely the cause. Cleaning is the fix.
- Does it slow down every few months? Recurring slowdowns mean the pipe walls need cleaning, not just clearing.
Not sure after that? Call us and we’ll help you decide before you book anything. We’d rather quote the right job once than the wrong job twice. Want the full rundown on drain cleaning and hydro jetting?
Drain service questions
Can you tell which one I need before you arrive?
Often, yes, over the phone based on the symptoms and history. If it’s not clear, we’ll diagnose on site and quote the right service before doing any work.
If I start with clearing, can I upgrade to cleaning later?
Yes. Plenty of customers start with the faster, cheaper option and move to jetting only if the clog comes back.
Is jetting safe for older Jacksonville pipes?
We assess the pipe condition first, often with a camera. Jetting pressure is adjusted for the pipe material and age. We won’t run it on a line that can’t take it.
